About Us

The MARSTRUCT series of conferences originated from the MARSTRUCT Network of Excellence with 33 partners, which was active from February 2004 to January 2010. Since then, MARSTRUCT has evolved into a biannual conference series dedicated to Marine Structures, providing a regular forum for reporting and discussing developments in the field. Meanwhile, MARSTRUCT is being continued as a Virtual Institute.

The ten previous MARSTRUCT Conferences have been held in:

Glasgow, 2007

Lisbon, 2009

Hamburg, 2011

Helsinki, 2013

Southampton, 2015

Lisbon, 2017

Dubrovnik, 2019

Trondheim, 2021

Gothenburg, 2023

Lisbon, 2025

The absence of an International Conference specially dedicated to Marine Structures was a determinant in the decision to promote this as a regular event. The ten previous Conferences were successfully organized, bringing together authors from 20 countries worldwide, presenting close to 100 papers at each Conference.

The next edition of the conference will be organised by the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, United Kingdom, twenty years after the first MARSTRUCT conference was held in the same city. The conference will continue to focus on the community's interest across the broad field of marine structures. Two streams, a maritime stream and an energy stream, are planned to reflect the dynamic development of the area.

The organisers aim to maintain the good standard of the proceedings achieved in previous editions. Taylor & Francis will again be the chosen publisher, as in previous conferences, with proceedings indexed on Scopus and Web of Science.

Full papers will be peer-reviewed prior to acceptance to ensure the quality of the final publication and to meet the requirements of the academic and research community. Selected high-quality papers will be invited for consideration in a special issue of an international journal dedicated to marine structures. This conference will rely on its committees as the main body contributing to reviewing and accepting papers.
